The Versa is a successor of the now discontinued Suzuki Every Landy/Carry. The van was released in the Indian market in October 2001. The two basic versions of this car in production are the two 8-seater DX/DX2 versions, and the 7-seater SDX version.
Both the SDX and DX2 versions of the Versa are equipped with twin AC for the front and the rear. It has a 16-valve, 1.3-liter 4-cylinder engine generating 82hp at 6000 rpm. It is managed by a 16-bit engine management system. A curb weight of 985 kg gives it a high power to weight ratio.
The Versa can reach from 0-60mph in 13.5 seconds. It has several innovative features. Its flexi seating option enables you to adjust space as per as your requirement. The Versa uses disc brakes for the front and also contains a pressure-regulating valve. The Twin AC is 2 independent cooling units, with one in front and one at the rear, for uniform all round cooling. The rear AC has an independent controls and overhead ducts. The side panels are tastefully designed with snazzy graphics, which extend from the tail lamp to the front door.
The car employs a proven and ultra reliable 1298cc four-cylinder SOHC of the Esteem. Maruti engineers have taken special attention to reduce noise, vibrations and harshness levels to acceptable limits. They have also made appreciable efforts to improve safety features in the car, and the Minocqua construction provides a rigid safety cell with side impact bars to protect against frontal impacts. Firm suspension settings ensure comfort and control.
Vroom Tip: The Versa cannot be compared with any vehicle in this price segment if you looking at an MPV van. A lower segment would be the Maruti Omni and higher would be the Chevrolet Tavera.
